Blue Hearts
It is one that has become all too familiar
Its bitterness I have grown used to and in it have I found a certain sweetness I now crave
I cannot love any differently
Scars, scars, scars, the ones I proudly wear as gems
to prove that I will be loving you till I depart this earth
In these I find neither comfort nor solace
I doubt I need them anyway
Numb, I have become numb to feeling and taste
Like the ones before me, I too have come to realise you will be staying the same forever
But unlike theirs, my love might be magic
Posterity's miracle
Blank, Bland its taste, you think it sour
You claim you once again need to explore the world's ends for alternatives
Unlike them, I do not mind this
As long as you come back to me
The road back to me, to us, to what we had, what we shared
has become a meeting point of endless crossroads
while you lay next to me and her, and her and her
The "thens, the "nows"and the "laters"
My sky has been stripped of its shine
for all my days have become gloomy and blue
Blue, like a fleeting breath, like life itself is being snatched from my insides
I turn a pale blue
In retrospect, I now know the colour of love
It never lived inside of you
If it did, you will be dead by now
...for Kafui Sam-George (Nee Emmanuel-Sapeh)
Hmmmmmmmm
